Padre Rufo Public School

Among the institutional buildings designed by Nechodoma during his firts years upon his return from Santo Domingo in 1912 were the Padre Rufo Public School on Calle del Parque Stop 23.

The Padre Rufo Public School building was a unique design and was not repeated in any other school on the island.  It had two entrances from the street side, one for boys and one for girls.  The plan was a U-shape and had a hipped wooden roof.  The spacing of the windows and the continuous moldings under the windowsills were distinctivley Nechodoma.

The Padre Rufo School building today is substantially altered from its original design.
