Masonic Temple/Logia Unión Amparo
This structure was designed by Nechodoma in 1923 using the Greek Revival Style. His use of this style can also be appreciated in his design of the Federal Land Bank Building in Old San Juan.
The design of this Masonic Hall was commissioned by the town of Caguas freemasons. After several failed attemps to establish a Masonic Lodge in Caguas due to the opposition of the Spanish Colonial rule, the Caguas Masonic Lodge was established in 1907 originally called Logia Union y Amparo. It was later known as the Logia Union & Amparo 44.
As can be seen from these pictures taken in 2016, the property was at the time abandoned and in a bad state of direpair. It is located at Calle Acosta #39 in Caguas and was included in the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
