Central Corsica’s predecesor was the two hundred fifty acre Hacienda Rafucci, established by Domingo Rafucci Padovani (1848-1906) when he acquired the old hacienda Theopolis.  Rafucci was a Corsican immigrant that arrived in Puerto Rico in 1868 to work at Hacienda Tres Hermanos in Añasco, owned by his uncles Carlos, Juan and Felix Padovani Santoni.  In 1888 Domingo returned to Corsica, his son Alfredo Rafucci Bayrón (1875-1943) was later its administrator and Mayor of Rincón.

By 1912 Alfredo had  developed the hacienda into a central sugar mill with approximately one thousand one hundred sixty four company controlled acres planted with sugarcane that included those of the old Hacienda Tres Hermanos.   It employed some four hundred people during its most productive years. Two sons-in-law of Domingo worked at Central Corsica, César Emilio Dechoudens, whose uncle owned the nearby Hacienda Eugenia, was the sugar man and Corsican immigrant Esteban Steffani, the father of Luis Steffani Rafucci, was the accountant.

In 1913 Central Corsica secured a $100,000 loan from the West India Sugar Financing Corporation.  That year, Ramón Aboy Benitez also owner of Central Arcadia in Vieques was its President, Jaime Sifre of Carmen Centrale was its Administrator and George Dana Graves, in representation of the West India Sugar Financing Corporation was its Treasurer.

Central Corsica suffered extensive damage in the 1918 San Fermin Earthquake that hit the western part of Puerto Rico.  In 1920 Central Corsica stopped grinding its sugarcane when it was acquired by Sucs. de Bianchi, owners of Central Coloso, who then processed the sugarcane grown on its land.  The October 20, 1920 edition of the El Mundo newspaper has an article that states

"around Caguas, within the first kilometer of the road on the left hand side going from this city to San Juan, construction is advancing with amazing speed the machinery and structures of the sugar mill named Central Defensa".

The article states its Administrator was Antonio Fraticelli who for the prior five years had been the administrator at Central Corsica in Rincón.   The article does not state but it has been otherwise reported, that the machinery for the new Central Defensa was from the then defunct Central Corsica in Rincón

The old manor house built by Alfredo Rafucci Bayrón in the 1890s known as Casa Rafucci, brick ovens and two water tanks still remain standing. Alfredo Raffucci Carrión, great grandson of Domingo Rafucci Padovani is the current of the land where the Casona Rafucci is located. There’s reports that the Manor House is being considered for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places. Central Corsica was located where today is the northwest corner of the intersection of PR-429, Bastia St. and Urayoan St. about 4 km south of downtown Rincón at coordinates 18°19'03.8"N 67°14'33.4"W.
