Becerra Residence
The Becerra residence designed ca. 1924 was a modest version of the Schuck Residence in Hato Rey, now demolished. It was designed for Frank Becerra, General Manager of General Cigar. Becerra sold the property to Dr. Genaro Barreras a well known OBGYN physician in Caguas. It was later acquired by Bob Whitlock, owner of the clinical lab Laboratorios Borinquen, who remodeled the property and established his business on the premises.
It stands out with a composition of its own, with an arched entrance flanked by planters. There is only one side porch due to the narrowness of the lot which makes the property look incomplete because of its lack of symmetry. However, the usual traits of the Nechodoma designs of this late stage in his career are there; the octagonal columns and use of mosaic glass details.
The house is located on Baldorioty Street #2 corner Goyco Street.
