Hacienda La Milagrosa
According Norma Medina-Carrillo PhD in her writing Hacienda Esperanza, Molino Vives, Guayama Puerto Rico, in Puerto Rico still exist remains of six wind powered sugar mills. Aside from those of haciendas Carlota, Vives, Berdecia, Santa Ana and Central Plazuela, she mentions that of Hacienda La Milagrosa in Arroyo.
The remains of the windmill of Hacienda La Milagrosa pictured below are today inside the urban limits of the town of Arroyo, next to a residential development named in honor of the hacienda that was once on its site. It is on the west bank of the Nigua river in downtown Arroyo.
There is no information found regarding who this hacienda belonged to or its years of operation. The ruins of the windmill pictured below date back to 1820-1830 when the other windmills in the Guayama-Arroyo area were installed.
